It's Team Tuesday and we'd like to take the opportunity to highlight a member of our Adirondack Farm team! In honor of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, we are starting with Farmer Katie. We asked Katie to share a little bit of her story and here's what she said:

"I didn't start working with cows until college, but when I started at the university dairy, I fell in love with them! I love their personalities and all the different characters. The are such loving and curious creatures and they make me laugh on the daily. They are just cool animals.

One thing I wish our neighbors knew was how much time and love I put into my job. I care for the cows just like any farmer and love them just the same. Everyone gets individual care when they have off days. Being a part of a larger farm gives me the opportunity to get special machines or equipment to provide more specific care for them. For example, we have an Idexx machine that I use to check blood samples to help diagnose sick cows.

My coolest cows now are 10928 and 10333. They are both the oldest girls in the herd. 10928 just calved in for their 10th lactation and 10333 is 168 DCC on her 10th lactation as well. Both of them just had great-great granddaughters born and are currently having a family reunion in their current pens with granddaughter and great granddaughters!

I just love talking about cows and my career and love to share about my passion with everyone. "

This week, about 40 dairy enthusiasts gathered at ADK Farms as we co-hosted the Professional Dairy Producers' 2026 Hoof Management Workshop. Attendees not only heard from experts but also had a chance to roll up their sleeves and put some of their new-found knowledge and techniques to practice.
