At Greet String Farm, we practice “natural process agriculture.” We keep the soil and plants healthy and free from pesticides and artificial chemicals. A farm is a system. Attention to soil health is essential to producing healthful food. Use of cover crops, compost, compost tea, and crushed volcanic rock and oyster shell mineral supplements help ensure that the earth is able to grow vibrant fruit

s and vegetables. The goal is to create a self-nourishing system where less human intervention yields better quality crops. We grow by the motto “50% for humans, 50% for nature,” maintaining an important balance between crops grown for human consumption and crops grown for soil improvement. This approach also benefits the community by preserving green spaces and wildlife habitats, protecting the soils, conserving resources, and stimulating the local economy.

With the closing of the farm, we need to rehome our two super friendly cats, Pepito and Tulsi. They were raised on the farm and are good gopher catchers but also like lots of scratches and ear massages! For anyone interested in their adoption there will be a vetting process of our discretion. They will need to be adopted as a pair as they are bonded. Pepito is a black, neutered male and Tulsi is a spayed tortoise female. Both are about two years old. If you are interested please email at [email protected] and we will respond shortly 🐱😺

With the closing of the farm store, we need to rehome our 31 ducks. There are six khaki campbells, eleven pekins and fourteen indian runners. Al are under three years of age and good egg layers in the warmer months. These are friendly fowls, NOT FOOD, with distinct personalities who love to waddle around during the day and nest in a predator proof home at night. Adopt 2, 6 or the whole flock. After almost twenty years in business serving our community with sustainable produce and sharing our farming philosophy, Green String Farm is going to take an indefinite pause at the close of 2022. When Green String Farm was founded, our goal was to share our passion for regenerative farming while providing the community with high-quality produce at a low price, all while passing our knowledge to the next generation. We were lucky enough to start Green String Institute and worked with hundreds of students from around the world who have carried on the Green String farming practices. We are so proud of everyone that has been a part of our story and what we have been able to accomplish in our community.
Thank you to our customers, vendor partners, employees and friends. Above all, thank you to Fred Cline and Bob Cannard who have made Green String possible. Please come by the farm in the next couple of weeks as we work on closing out our inventory and to say goodbye. We would love to see you and share memories of Green String Farm!
We are hopeful that we will be able to do some pop-ups in the future and will be sure to provide updates on our mailing list and social pages. Our official last day on the farm will be December 24th. Wishing a beautiful holiday season to you all….
