Harvest 2026 has begun for the tiniest little w**ery in the west! We harvested our 2 Petaluma Gap vineyards this weekend for a brand new w**e: a whole cluster pressed white w**e field blend made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay!

You'll have to wait till next spring to taste it!

God I love zinfandel - while all other grapes in Sonoma County suffer from shatter and mildew from what will be written off as a bad vintage, my head trained old vine zinfandel is out here just being a total plump, perfect, low hanging smoke show!

Pinot and Cabernet - learn from your older brother! Be like him! 😣

Important Change to the Club (https://www.barbercellars.com/club)

To align all memberships and make our club work better in our new space with our increased staff - we will unfortunately have to end our complimentary glass of w**e for club members at the end of this month. The combined membership benefits for everyone will be 1/2 off all glasses of w**e and 1/2 off all cocktails for up to 4 people ($8 w**es and cocktails aint bad!), 15% discount on all food/ bottles/ retail/ chocolate/ cheese/ etc. (20% for higher tier members), and 2 free w**e tastings for members and their guests to experience our w**e selections.

If you haven't been to our new location and experienced all our offerings: please visit soon! It's a pretty amazing place loaded with all sorts of culinary experiences. We are extending the complimentary glass of w**e for members through the end of August, so please stop by before then to enjoy your last free glasses of w**e and settle into the new surroundings!

The bird nets are down- and there's a touch of brown on the grape seeds (at least on the pinot noir there it is). This cooler marine layer has slowed things down, but we are so close to our first harvest of 2026! (I'm guessing 2 weeks- the earliest we've ever done but not nearly as early as most w**eries this year!)

While we're nowhere near as early as other vineyards to the north (some in Russian River are harvesting grapes for table w**e next week!) we are seeing some good veraison (color change) in our pinot noir and pinot gris. As long as there's no crazy heat spikes, I'm guessing harvest will begin very end of August/ start of Sept, so about 2 weeks early for us vs 4 weeks+ early for many vineyards in Sonoma County.

Best Zinfandel I've made since 2001- our '04 old vine Sonoma Mountain field blend is dense, spicy, delicious: a pure California original. We designed this label because of our zinfandel vineyard: a steep and unforgiving hillside at the top of Sonoma Mountain. You can taste the volcanic soils and the rugged beauty of this place in every sip.

Stop into our new tasting room at 120 washington st, downtown Petaluma (Taste Petaluma at the Barber Lee Spirits distillery) to have a taste!

As farmers, we battle creatures from the sky, the land, under the earth. We battle the cold, the sun, and sometimes the wind.

Grape shatter is real all over Sonoma County this year- and could lead to yields of just 1/5th of normal in many areas.

Mad Chocolates is Open in Our Space!

Petaluma is finally getting the fine chocolate shop it deserves! Jennifer Burrow of Mad Chocolates is a Petaluma local and one of the best chocolatiers in the state! Previously only available at farmer's markets and special events, her gorgeous, delicious chocolate truffles are now a permanent part of our Taste Petaluma collective at the Barber Lee Spirits Distillery - ready to be boxed up and taken home, or enjoyed at the distillery. We even offer a chocolate tasting flight that you can customize (enjoy her truffles next to our w**es and whiskies!).

Stop by soon and check out her selections! We're open Wed/Thurs 3-10, Fri/Sat 3-11, Sun 3-9. Families and accompanied children are welcome!

Taste Petaluma is NOW OPEN - All Our Businesses Together!

The merge is complete- and all of our businesses are ready to welcome you into a fantastic place dedicated to everything tasty! We call the concept 'Taste Petaluma,' and it's now officially open at the Barber Lee Spirits Distillery at 120 Washington st in downtown Petaluma.

It's basically the best and most unique bar you'll ever set foot in - Enjoy cocktails and tasting flights from the spirits we make in-house at Barber Lee Spirits, and/or glasses of w**e or a tasting flight from the estate grown micro-vineyards of Barber Cellars. Enjoy a tasting of the best local cheeses or something else savory from the Petaluma Cheese Shop, and/or a dessert from one of Sonoma County's best pastry makers with our Nightcap Dessert Bar (https://www.barberleespirits.com/nightcap-dessert-bar) menu!
