Before we get swept up into another week or another event, I need to take a moment to highlight our extremely hardworking, dedicated, kind, friendly, talented, did I say hardworking? unbelievably amazing staff.
It was extra busy all week (which is great : ) with lots of special orders to fulfill and our BBQ event to prep for and host. Add to that a side of hot weather, hot kitchens, even hotter grills…I was impressed by how well everyone was keeping their cool.
And then in the middle of all this extra busyness, two of our big coolers died. Without hesitation our staff jumped in: quickly unloading hundreds of items, carrying it all over to refrigeration and once everything was fixed, reloaded it all back up item by item, meticulously and precisely, as if nothing ever happened.
But then guess what…four days later, it did happen. Again. Oh yes. Our cool retro but elderly cooler died for the second time in one week. It’s hard to put into words what this feels like other than perhaps rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic? But there they were, without blinking an eye - doing it all over again.
I don’t have pictures of all that (too busy panicking and trying to keep it together) but this first photo is of some of them yesterday after a long day of serving hundreds of people, huddled under a tent after the sudden downpour that came right as they were cleaning up from the BBQ. The photo is a little blurry, but I can see their smiles - they are truly amazing, resilient and dedicated humans and although we went home dead tired yesterday, we went home with extremely full and grateful hearts.
So extra big thank you this week to Bill, Destiney, Olivia, Rhys, Holly, Ellen, Patty, Eve, Larry, Greg (and the rest of our staff Dwight, Dylan, Orin, Finn and Hayden) for stepping up when we needed you and making it possible to do what we do - we are so lucky to have you on our team, thank you ❤️🖤🤍
