Fall is ending and new beginnings are kicking off here on the homestead. From goats being born to launching of classes again, this quick blog begins what I hope is more frequent writings. Documenting my work is something I have always loved to do through this online journaling.

A new year always allows for a new rhythm to ensue. Writing has happened again as much therapy for me, learning for you, and telling the story of winter farm life. This blog helps to explain the 7 kettles in the iron, the balance of life and death, and the journey but not the destination.

Winter provides unique rhythms with day in day out farm life, soil building and dialing in our food forest at this slower time of the year.

In case my neighbors were wondering what i was doing last night in the dark with my phone flashlight. Collecting maple sap water to make maple syrup. And yes thats what it means to farm, get stuff done at the time when it needs done. Sometimes the sap run is great and then a hard freeze is on its way, so you go get it again!
