Last Thursday, we took some time to bring our team together for a staff meeting to reflect on the past year, share ideas, and talk about all the exciting things ahead over the next few months and into 2027.

A big thank-you to our customers for allowing us to close our stores a little early so our team could connect, collaborate, and look toward the future together. We’re grateful for this community and excited for what’s to come at the Grain Train!

Today, we recognize and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day by honoring the histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples, both past and present.

Here in Northern Michigan, we’re grateful to live and work on the ancestral homelands of Indigenous communities. We recognize the importance of supporting Indigenous voices, businesses, foodways, and traditions, and continuing to learn from the people who have cared for this land since time immemorial.

Today and every day, we honor the people, cultures, and communities that make our region what it is.

Today we’re celebrating the people who help put good food on our tables and make our local food system stronger. Happy National Farmer’s Day!

We’re incredibly grateful to work with so many amazing local farms and producers, including KK’s Farm, Providence Farm, King Orchards, Mshko’Ode Farm, Open Sky Organic Farm, Bluestem Farm, and many more.

Every time you choose local, you’re supporting the farmers who grow, harvest, and care for the food that makes its way to our shelves. We’re proud to support them and even prouder to share their hard work with our community.

This year we have:
Black Star Farm Turkeys — $4.99/lb
Manton, MI | Outdoor access, non-GMO feed, no hormones or antibiotics. 40 available.

Cook Family Farm Turkeys — $5.99/lb
Ga***rd, MI | Grass-fed, free-range, non-GMO feed, no growth hormones or antibiotics. 170 available.

We also have Ferndale natural whole turkeys, breasts and drumsticks available in our freezer section. Fresh breasts and legs are not available for preorder this year.

Grain Train Bakery/Deli sides are available for preorder through Monday, November 16.

Please note: Beginning Monday, October 19, our Bakery/Deli will temporarily close while we remodel the space.

During this time, no baked goods or hot prepared foods will be available. Grab & Go items will remain available while supplies last.

This also means our Bakery/Deli items will not be available for delivery to our Boyne City store during the closure.

We anticipate the Bakery/Deli may remain closed through October 30. We appreciate your patience while we make some improvements, and we’ll keep you updated as we get closer to reopening.

October is Co-op Month, and we’re celebrating by showing some Local Love!

Throughout the month, we’ll be welcoming some of the local farmers, producers, and vendors who help make the Grain Train what it is. Stop by, say hello, sample some local goodness, and learn more about the folks behind some of your favorite products.

PETOSKEY

• KK’s Farm — Friday, October 23, 3–5 p.m.
