Welcome to your neighborhood farmers market the way you always remembered it. Colorful, fragrant bouquets of fresh-picked flowers daily. Generous sizes of locally grown, seasonal produce. Handmade jams, jellies, honey, maple syrup and marmalades. Fresh herbs, wreaths, swags, trees, garland and greenery—all capturing perfectly the flavors and aromas of Northern Michigan. But all this fresh, home-gr

own goodness comes to you with a rich history—over 100 years worth! Bill’s Farm Market is located on East Mitchell Road, about 4 miles east of the water’s edge, or US 31. The McMaster’s great grandfather, who emigrated here from Germany, farmed for many years – a tradition that Bill, the owner, continues with, even today. Bill’s mom didn’t want him to follow his grandfathers and father’s occupation, but it was in his blood to continue in his family’s tradition. He so enjoyed agriculture and growing good healthy food that he began commercial farming in the 1970’s, opening his doors on the farm in 1982. Obviously agriculture and healthy eating does not go out of style, and the market’s growing popularity has spurred two additions to the store. Bill and his brother, Don, live in the family home where they were raised and from which the farm market operates. It traditionally opens around the second week of June, depending upon weather/growing conditions and closes Christmas Eve. Over 20 varieties of flowers, 10 kinds of herbs and a variety of vegetables are continually rotated through 29 fields. At the peak of summer, Bill’s famous peaches-and-cream sweet corn, potatoes and tomatoes are available. As the days grow shorter, pumpkins and squash dot the farm. When temperatures fall and snow flies, the farm becomes a romantic Currier & Ives postcard with a Christmas tree and wreath farm. The McMasters’ pride in what we do is apparent in every delectable morsel of food, every fresh-picked flower, and every fragrant herb we sell. Come by and take a look. We guarantee you won’t leave empty-handed.

Finishing up hay season! 🌾

Did you know we grow hay on our farm?

Each summer we bale about 3,000 square bales and 175 round bales. We use the hay to feed our cows throughout the year and also supply hay for the animals at the Emmet-Charlevoix County Fair.

Next up is straw! We’ll be baling roughly 500 straw bales, which will be available for purchase this fall.🍂
