The Co-op's Food Justice Committee is hosting its 7th Annual Food Fund Drive in support of 3 area food pantries. Donations will be collected to benefit the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard in Ambler, the food pantry at St Luke's Episcopal Church in Germantown and the food pantry at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Airy.

The drive will run from September 1 through September 30, 2024. Members and nonmembers can donate online. All funds will be collected by the Co-op's nonprofit, Weavers Way Community Fund, and will be equally divided between the three pantries. Donations are tax deductible.

Let's get ready to go back to 1973 to celebrate 50 years as a Community-Owned Co-op!

πŸŽ‰To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are taking a select product back to 1973 prices for one weekend a month. Our first retro rollback is flour - going to 49c/lb this Friday - as if it were 1973! πŸŽ‚

The sale price is available on King Arthur All Purpose Unbleached Flour in Mt Airy and Ambler's bulk department. When the Co-op opened, we would get 100lb bags of flour and volunteers would bag it up for members as a way to save money. Just like in the 1970s we have to make sure there's enough for everyone, so there is a limit of 5lb per customer.

We welcome shoppers to bring their own container to buy the flour - and of course if you want to be super retro and wear some 1970s gear, please do and take a photo (and tag )!

Sale dates are Jan 27 - Jan 29, while supplies last. Happy 50th!

Happy 50th, WW Mt Airy! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ›’πŸŽ‰ On this day in 1973, community members opened their first retail location after operating as a pre-order buying club. Today, we kickoff our yearlong celebration of 50 years with cake. Come grab a slice at any of our stores, 1pm - 3pm.

A piece of Mt Airy history: Fruit boxes lined the right side of the store. Big glass cases and a counter for cutting and wrapping cold cuts lined the left, with one aisle in between. The store was unheated and so small that there was no space for checkout, so you would have to go next door to pay.

While we are still a bit quirky in our checkout line, the strength of our staff, some who have been here since the store opened, and our incredible community, we keep this small store bursting with cooperative activity.

Got a vintage or otherwise fun pic of Weavers Way's stores you can share? Tag so we can start up a collection!
