When it comes to steakhouses, it’s rare for the steak sauce to overshadow the meat. But at L’Entrecôte, the sauce is the undisputed star of the show. During our visit to their famed Geneva location, we experienced this firsthand. The menu is delightfully simple: one signature dish—Steak Frites—served with their legendary “green” sauce.
This sauce, an exquisite emulsion of tarragon, sage, parsley, garlic, and butter, transforms the tender, sliced ribeye into something extraordinary. The meal starts with a crisp, refreshing garden salad before the main event arrives: perfectly cooked steak accompanied by golden, crispy frites. The best part? You get not one but two servings, ensuring you can savor every last drop of that decadent sauce.
To complement the meal, we selected a bottle from their thoughtfully curated wine list, which had plenty of great options to pair with the richness of the steak. For dessert, their menu features classic French indulgences. Naturally, I chose the Crème Brûlée, a personal favorite, and it did not disappoint—silky custard with a perfectly caramelized sugar crust.
L’Entrecôte has recently expanded, opening locations in New York City and Dubai, both of which are now high on my must-visit list. If their signature dish tastes this extraordinary in Geneva, I can only imagine how it’ll shine in these new settings. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, blending simplicity with sophistication.
