Here's how sommeliers actually pair 🍷 + 🍲

Pair to the dominant element, not to the recipe name!

✅ Tomato, citrus, vinegar? → Try a high-acid wine
✅ Butter, cream, cheese? → Look for acid or bubbles
✅ Spicy food → Lower alcohol, slight sweetness
✅ Sweet food → Wine must be as sweet or sweeter
✅ Mushrooms, lentils, or earthy flavors → Savory, earthy wines

I'm so excited about launching Cork & Crystal l in 2025! While it was only a soft launch, it was a huge milestone for me and I'm thankful. In 2025, I did my first wine tasting events, created some ebooks, and even started a newsletter! 💕

That's what I'm celebrating as 2025 comes to a close and 2026 begins.

Santa was very good to me this year! 🎁 I got a bottle of wine from my great friend and former winemaker Ethan!! He produced this amazing Syrah in the Paso Robles wine region.

He's no longer a winemaker. But with how this wine drinks right now, you can tell he was a damn good one. He once told me Syrah was one of his favorite grapes to work with. And I believe it! This particular bottle is drinking very nicely.

Well done, Ethan...and thank you for the amazing gift!

I'm anxiously waiting for Santa over here! But in the meantime, it's wine and cookies...🎅🍷

I decided to pair holiday cookies with a sparkling white while I wait. And you know what?? It worked!

Thanks to all for an amazing year of wine-inspired memories! This year, I'm thankful for all the wine, friends, and the soft launch of Cork & Crystal. I'm excited for what's to come in 2026! 🥂

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! ❄️

Is it me, or do the bubbles from sparkling wine look like little snowflakes falling in reverse?

These festive flutes are Christmas Splendor by Artland, circa 2008 (discontinued).

Lambrusco is an unique Italian red wine, which is bursting with flavor. It has a little sweetness to it along with notes of cherry, red fruits and plum.

Try pairing Lambrusco with Prosciutto Crudo (an Italian dry-cured ham), and Parmigiano Reggiano (Italian hard, granular cheese produced from cow's milk and aged at least 12 months).

The Lambrusco’s bubbles and acidity cut through the richness of the prosciutto and cheese, refreshing your palate with every sip.

The pairing also works because Proscuitto Crudo, Parmigiano Reggiano and Lambrusco all come from the same region in northern Italy, called Emilia-Romagna.

It's a simple pairing that not only tastes delicious together, but is regionally appropriate.

delivering this tasting to a local house party this weekend. 🥂

We explored a Cava from the oldest winery in Spain, a Txakoli from Basque Country, a beautiful white blend from Penedes, and two different expressions of Garnacha: one younger, and one older.

We tasted the following wines (in the order shown here):
🇪🇸 El Galayo, 2023, Garnacha, Castilla y Leon
🇪🇸 Lorinon, 2015, Red Blend, Rioja
🇪🇸 Bodegas Sumarroca, 2023, White Blend, Penedes
🇪🇸 Mokoroa, NV, Hondarrabi Zuri, Getaria
🇪🇸 Casa Codorniu, NV, Chardonnay (Blanc de Blanc), Penedes

No one loves a good wine and food pairing more than I do. 😍

This recipe for orzo and sugar snap peas with feta is nothing short of amazing. The combination of ingredients creates a salad that's light and delicious, you'll want seconds, and then thirds. The good thing is, you can eat as many servings as you want without feeling guilty.

The wine paring is Txakoli, which is a light bodied, high acid wine with notes of lime, green strawberry and saline. Txakoli will not overpower the salad at all.
