Tips to keep your sliced deli meats & cheeses fresher and more flavorful!!
For Meat:
- Store the sliced meat in airtight containers. Place the container in the meat compartment of your refrigerator for best results
- Moisture is your biggest concern. We pack our deli meats with deli paper to help control this, but for longer storage you can include a dry paper towel in your bag of deli meat to control moisture even further
- For the longest storage, you may pack your deli meats into a ziplock (or for best results vacuum seal it in bags) and freeze. This method yields the longest lasting results, and when ready to use place your pack in the refrigerator 24 hours ahead of time to thaw
For Cheese:
- Avoid the freezer if possible. While this can be an option to prevent spoiling, the freezer changes the texture and consistency of the cheese permanently
- If storing for more than a few days, removing the cheese from the plastic and wrapping it in cheese paper or parchment allows for excess moisture control while retaining necessary humidity
- Lastly, if your slices begin to stick together you can separate them with squares of parchment paper
