One of the AZ Kosher Pantry supporter’s daughter created this Chanukah postcard as a fundraising project for the pantry. She says:

My daughter Josie who has Cerebral Palsy wants to be an artist. She also wanted to volunteer at the food pantry, but she has anxiety and has not been able to volunteer in person. Josie has had a heart for the homeless since finding out that one of her father’s cousins was homeless. When we learned about his situation, we had him move in with us. He stayed with us for a while as he was got back on his feet. At the same time, we were helping with my mother’s care, she had cancer. We could not have cared for both of them without the help we received from the AZ Kosher Food Pantry. When Josie heard that the pantry needed help fundraising, she wanted to help. So, she created the postcard shown in the picture.

Josie is very proud of her postcard and wants to share the light of Chanukah with all, far and wide. You can get one of her cards for a $2.50 donation to the AZ Kosher Food Pantry. Stop by and pick one up. Josie will donate the profits to the panty after Chanukah.

The Arizona Kosher Food Pantry needs your help.

All of us are heartbroken by the attack on Israel and the resulting war. May Hashem bring the hostages home and protect our soldiers as they pursue and destroy Hamas. While many are concerned and sending tzedakah dollars to Israel, there are many who need your help here in Phoenix.

The Arizona Kosher Pantry is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which provides free food to the local community, the unsheltered, and others who are struggling with food insecurity. The Pantry’s subsidiary programs are Tomchei Shabbos and Ezras Choilm. Tomchei Shabbos provides struggling families with the food they need to have an Oneg Shabbat. Whereas Ezras Cholim supplies cooked kosher meals for shut-ins, people in the hospital, and other Jews in need of Chessed. Ezras Cholim also runs the only durable medical equipment gemach in the Phoenix valley.

In total, the Pantry serves from 1,200 to 1,500 people a month. Ezras Cholim provides from 150 to 350 meals a month. While the Tomchei Shabbos program delivers about 100 boxes a month for Shabbat meals. Many Jewish families in Phoenix and the surrounding area have been helped by these programs.

The pantry is in trouble. Donations have dropped dramatically since the war in Israel began. Without the community’s support the Arizona Kosher Pantry will not be able to continue operations. To lose this resource would be a tragedy for the community.
