Phoenix Tour de Coops

Phoenix Tour de Coops 2024 date coming soon! The 2022 event will be held on Saturday, November 5th.

ABOUT TOUR de COOPS
Our signature fundraising event, known as the valley’s “most unique home tour”, Tour de Coops is a self-guided tour that celebrates urban chickens and sustainable living in the Valley of the Sun. Tour goers can share coop design tips, chicken keeping secrets and discuss other sustainable practices with members of the community who are already keeping chickens in their backyard. Patrons can share coop design tips, chicken keeping secrets, and discuss other sustainable practices with members of the community who are already keeping chickens in their backyards. Supporting this event through your ticket purchase and/or sponsorship allows us to continue our work to inspire sustainable living in the urban desert southwest and continue developing community-based solutions to important environmental issues. It is because of the support of individuals, companies, organizations, and community groups that we are able to continue the work we do throughout the Valley.

Dear Friends of Tour de Coops,

We hope your 2026 is off to an egg-cellent start! It has been an incredible experience to organize and host Tour de Coops in and around Phoenix over the last six years, and we’re so grateful to have shared this journey with such a wonderful flock.

We truly believe touring backyard chicken coops and gardens provides an educational, inspirational, and community-building perspective on local gardening and chicken keeping. It’s been egg-mazing to see so many people hatch new ideas, learn together, and not be afraid to ruffle a few feathers along the way.

As we look ahead, we’re hoping to pass the roost to new organizers who are excited to take Tour de Coops to the next level and make it the best backyard garden experience possible.

If you or someone you know might be interested in organizing and hosting Tour de Coops, please message us via Facebook and let us know. We’d love to peck your brain and share what we’ve learned.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement over the years. You’ve given us so many things to squawk about, and we couldn’t have done this without our amazing community.

With gratitude,
The Tour de Coops Team

Thinking about starting your own backyard flock? 🐥

Wondering when the best time is to bring home baby chicks? The ideal time to get chicks is **early spring**, around March or April. That way, your little fluffballs can grow in the warmer months and be ready to start laying in the fall. 🌸☀️

But don't worry if you miss the spring rush—chicks can still thrive in late summer, too! Just be sure to keep them warm and cozy as the temperatures start to dip. 🏡🐓

Share your chick-raising tips or ask questions below—we love hearing from you! 💬👇

**Which Chicken Breed is Best for Kids? 🐔👧👦**

Choosing the right chicken breed for your family can be tough, especially with so many great options! If you’re looking for a breed that’s best for kids, the **Orpington** is a fantastic choice. Here’s why:

**🐥 Gentle and Friendly:** Orpingtons are known for their calm and friendly nature. They love human interaction and are easy to handle, making them perfect for little ones.

**🌟 Great Egg Layers:** These hens are excellent layers, providing a steady supply of eggs, which is a fun and rewarding experience for kids.

**🥰 Fluffy and Cute:** With their soft, fluffy feathers, Orpingtons are irresistibly cute and cuddly, which helps kids bond with them even more.

While all these breeds have their own unique qualities, the Orpington’s sweet temperament and easy-going personality make it a standout for families with children. 🐣❤️
