This came up on my fb memories and it’s made me stop and reflect on the last eight years.

I grew up in a family where most everyone loved to cook and make amazing things but no one really baked. Some of my earliest memories of baking are of me and my Jhidi (grandfather) baking boxed cake mix together or making chocolate chip cookies together. I’d like to think that’s where my love for it came from.

Fast forward to my teen years, I had the opportunity to work at, in my opinion, the best Italian bakery in Boston, Modern Pastry 🇮🇹🎂❤️ during my high school years. Those years just grew my love even more for all things baking. I’d experiment with recipes, perfect a cookie or pie recipe, have some great cake and dessert successes and some great fails that I was able to learn from.

In 2017, after a lot of prayer, I made the decision to move to Arizona-one of the scariest, most challenging and difficult things I’ve done. As I got acclimated to my new life, I slowly started baking again. After enough times of making desserts and birthday cakes for parties, my friends, and family, encouraged me to “do something” with it. That’s how baked by Sammie got started.

In June of 2018, I started this page and bought my first domain and created a website-not having a clue what I was doing. This was the first wedding cake I made. When I look at this cake, I can see so many things I could’ve/would’ve done differently. It’s easy to see the flaws if you look for them, which I usually do with my perfectionist tendencies.🤪 But, now when I look at this cake, I can see that there was a girl that just loved pushing her limits and creating something that would make someone smile. I see the growth in the last eight years and I see the potential for even more growth!

So to those who have cheered me on since the very beginning and continue to order from me…. THANK YOU! None of this would be possible without your love, encouragement and support!🩷

Happy eighth anniversary baked by Sammie!
