Picayune Blueberry Farm

Picayune Blueberry Farm 69 Homer Spiers Rd in Picayune. Picayune Blueberry Farm, Picayune, Mississippi
We started the farm in 1987 on one acre and fell in love with the berries.

We have 55 acres now with a few sheep, cattle and 13 acres of blueberries and have planted some blackberries this year to see how they will do. We have opened the farm for people to come and pick their own berries and have a good time swapping stories. Our aim is to grow the best berries we can and provide an interesting and enjoyable experience for kids and adults.

Good morning! These berries are calling your name and want to go home with you. Don't wait until the weekend when we get busy. Come get them now and spend some contemplative time in nature. It is berry good for the soul.

Juju is our best picker of the day. It was her first time to the farm and she did great. We love it when new people, especially young people, are newly introduced to the farm and hope to see them back for many years to come.

A poem to help us say goodbye to this season's blackberries...

Blackberry pickin isn't the same
When we were young
It was stop along a country road
vines ran wild on the ground
Watch out for snakes and thorns
The sound of cicadas all around
And the sun making shadows along the path

It's different now
There's a field, a trellis
No kneeling or thorns
The fruit is as big as a thumb
There's a variety named Freedom
that grows well with the land
Don't forget to post some pics
of organic jellies and jams

But do not be sad
Because memories are still being made
There are still children with purple mouths and hands
bright eyes and smiles
hunting for the blackest of berries
Excited to find the perfect one
Filling up buckets, using their hands,
breaking a sweat and feeling the sun
and together, family and friends

This week is looking great for picking blueberries. The Powder Blue variety is making a showing. So plan to come out and pick this week while you still can. We likely only have two more weeks to go.

As for blackberries, they are essentially done. You may happen upon a couple of stray berries, but the season is over! They were good and sweet while they lasted. Thanks to everyone that came out and purchased blackberries. Please look forward to next year.

🫐 Happy Father's Day from Picayune Blueberry Farm 🫐Today we celebrate the man who walked these rows, planted every bush, and built something that will live on long after him. This is our dad — right here where he belonged, among the blueberries he loved. We miss him every single day, but on days like today, we feel him most right here on the farm. His hands shaped this place, and his heart is woven into every row.Thank you, Dad, for everything you planted — in this soil and in us. 💙To all the fathers out there, and to everyone holding a little extra tenderness in their heart today — Happy Father's Day. 🌿
