Since that time, what started with 1,680 members has grown to serve more than 73,000 customers in five counties over more than 7,300 miles of power lines. Along with providing reliable service, Blue Ridge has evolved to provide services to its members that are relevant and transformative in a changing world. The same power lines that were built to carry electricity to the countryside are now being used to bring fiber into homes of our rural areas. As a not-for-profit, member-owned distribution utility our employees are dedicated to quality service with a human touch.

Our crews will continue working to restore service to those still affected and will remain on standby throughout the night.

Blue Ridge Electric Co-op is monitoring the path of Hurricane Isaias and its potential impact on our service territory. Forecasts call for steady rain Saturday, picking up that night and into Sunday, with wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour. Most of our area could see 2 to 4 inches of rain, with more possible in the mountains of Oconee and Pickens counties.

Soaked ground and strong gusts make it easier for trees to fall on power lines, so outages are possible. Our crews will be ready to respond.

Take time today to get ready. Charge backup batteries and save our outage page (blueridge.coop/outage), so you can report an outage quickly. If you see a downed line, stay away and call us. Never drive through a flooded road.

We’ll share updates if the storm causes outages in our area.
