Blissful Bee Farm

Blissful Bee Farm We are a small family farm in upstate South Carolina.

Our goals are ever-evolving as we learn and grow, but current hopes include raising fiber animals, growing flowers and tending bees...oh, and opening our pending microbrewery (2022?!).

Wondering if I can gather enough ironweed for a dye project - and still have enough for the bees! This pic, taken after a rain, reminds me of our hikes in Hawaii and Costa Rica. Lush and a bit wild. Love naturalized field and access edges. So many bonuses for us and nature alike. πŸŒΌπŸŒΈπŸŒΎπŸπŸ¦ŸπŸ¦—

Pumpkins in August! Because this is what you find in the field after dumping old holiday/baking/beer brewing remains and then forget about them. πŸ₯³πŸ€£πŸŽƒ

Choosing a favorite flower is like choosing a favorite book, song, food...not possible. But if I had to narrow it down, zinnias would be in the top three. Along with lily of the valley, forsythia, and buddleia, they signify my childhood in NC. My mom always grew a huge garden along the driveway exclusively for zinnia cuttings; we had vases in the house all summer! My output is not nearly as significant - yet - but each bloom still fills me with joy and good memories! 🌼

Every time I visit these girls, I have to resist the urge to name them all Miss Puddle-Duck. I have always loved Beatrix Potter, and these gals are like stories come to life. πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ€

New cheep cheeps are the perfect inaugural post, don't you agree? A Saturday errand to and one thing leads to another. πŸ˜‚πŸ₯°πŸ₯³πŸ₯ Fun fact: after trying three containment vessels, I finally settled on my great grandmother's old copper roasting pan (don't tell the babies!). It is ideal for now; the sides are high and the floor is long. Once they outgrow it we'll give them free run of the hen house, but for now they are nice and secure. And cute. Really cute!

Hi! You are part of a very privileged few who now know: WE HAVE A FARM NAME! It only took...uh...YEARS to brainstorm, and of course in the end the answer was terribly obvious. We'll share a little history in a future post. For now...whew!

This property is still evolving in every sense of the word, but we are excited to start sharing more "professionally" with you and the rest of the world. Who knows what will transpire, but it is sure to be an amusing adventure to follow. πŸ˜€
