What a difference a day makes! 🌧️ Yesterday, our creek was completely dry. Today, it’s full of water and flowing again like it used to.
This is a spring-fed creek, fed by the aquifer beneath our ground. With concerns about our well drying up, seeing water flowing again is a welcome sight. It gives us hope, even though the creek alone can’t tell us how our well is doing.
I’ve seen folks frustrated with all the rain, and I understand it can cause problems. Our own driveway washed out, so we’ve got work ahead of us, too. But you won’t hear us complaining about an abundance of rain. Water is part of our livelihood here at Locavores Fork Farm, and after such a tough growing year, we’re grateful for every bit of it.
We’re finally seeing some peppers growing, too! We’ve hardly gotten any crops this year—especially peppers—so seeing a little progress in the garden and water back in the creek sure lifts our spirits. 🌱
I’m feeling better and had enough strength to walk down and take these pictures today. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. There’s a lot to be thankful for.
