Hi! Long time no posting, I’m sorry! Despite my repeated efforts, I’m a much better steward of my animals than I am my social media 😆. But I told you guys I’ll always post what I have available here first, and I just accidentally broke that for the first time 😩. So I’m just a few minutes behind, but here lol! I have ten more hens, with or without a rooster to go with them. Hatched here on our farm as our personal layers, these girls are all laying daily right now at 1-3 years old. They’ve never been pushed with lights to lay over winter, so they’ve got lots of eggs and life left in them still. We’ve only added chicks from npip compliant hatcheries and breeders for the last 8 years, so while there’s never 0 chance of bringing disease with them, the odds would at least be in your favor. They have some feather wear from the roosters, but everyone was sprayed twice for external parasites (I’ve also looked them each over a couple times) and received 5 days of wormer for my peace of mind that it WAS only rooster wear and tear. I’m simply collecting more eggs than we’re eating and selling right now, so I’m needing to let some more girls go. Better deal if you take all 10 but absolutely not necessary! One of these gals lays blue, one green, and the rest white and brown so there’s all the basic egg colors in one little flock here 😁. Rooster is free with any purchase- he’s too sweet to eat but he won’t stay out of our raspberries and kept teaching hens how to get to them, so he can’t free range here any more lol.

If you’ve been looking for a cute little “micro” mini family of goats, I may have just the thing for you! 😆 This cute little doe should make my milking string on paper, but when you’re dealing with living things, sometimes we get head scratchers. She’s either destined to be teeny OR a slow-growing diamond in the rough, I fear only time will tell. Offering her with a doeling who should mature nicer than her momma even if she hits a glow up, and wether brother. Doe is young, cute, and correct, just TINY, so I don’t imagine it would be much fun to milk her or she’s producing terribly much this first lactation. She’s been an excellent momma who delivered without a hitch and was the ONLY doe who was smart enough to keep her babies inside for the first few days. We typically separate in stalls, but due to a buck break out (that caused her to even be bred in the first place) there was no more room at the inn and she had to rough it as a first timer. The wether doesn’t have to stay with them, but I’m asking less than a bag of mineral for him in hopes that someone can justify keeping the whole family together 😋.

I caught these four cuddling out the window and wanted to share a special doe that’s unfortunately (for me) going to be 👀 very soon in milk once she weans her daughter I’m keeping. As a first time momma, Marshmallow has been feeding and caring for not only her own kid but both of her sister’s and I’ve also seen at least two other kids chug and run and her not bat an eye 🥹. She was out of a set of quad doelings and her two sisters I kept too aren’t as people oriented as she is, so I’d like to find her somewhere she can get more lovins. She’s a third generation Mini Nubian/Alpine but small Nigerian sized despite their grandma being huge 😂. She’s a 2024 baby, comes from great milkers on each side (sire’s side does milking into double digit years and grandma milked just under a gallon a day!) but no fault of her own hasn’t been milked during her first lactation so that would be all on her new home if you wanted to milk lol. She’s always been so agreeable, she’s not one I’d *expect* drama from, but there’s always a little bit of hiccups when adjusting to new milkmaids too so that’s not something I’d personally stress over. Her wether or buckling nephew could come, or she can go alone or with some other does I’m needing to place, some dry, some in milk. You’ve got options 🤪

This cute little 3rd gen Mini Alpine/Nubian buckling is due for the green Cheerio if not claimed soon, so this is his/their last shot hoorah if anyone is looking for a herd sire. His great-grandma was full sized Alpine/Nubian and milked just under a gallon a day. Dam is sired by a solid milking buck and this guy’s sire is nicer yet. Just wanted to toss him out there before I band him since he’s so cute! Was a triplet to a FF dam who was a quad herself and small Nigerian sized full grown. Also available in whether version, but would make great dual purpose kids 😎.

Our ever so elegant queen Blue with her progeny behind her 💅🏻😆. Miss Blanca had a temp of over 106 last week!! She seems to be feeling better though. I’m so grateful for the consistent rain, but it’s been a little rough out here with all the crazy weather 🥴. Breeding for hardiness has been paying back this season big time and I’m grateful for strong girls in my program like Blue. Even though Blanca got sick, she was just zoning out more than usual (the only reason I took her temp), so with as high a fever as she had I’m thrilled that’s as bad as it got outside of a little heavy breathing I almost wrote off to her being chunky and hot 🙈.

I’ve got the perfect little starter flock or addition for somebody right here! 10 hens and a rooster, I’m getting 6-7 large eggs most days. There’s 3 Buff Orpingtons, 2 New Hampshire Reds, 1 Speckled Sussex, 2 Easter eggers and a Spitzhauben mix that I believe will all turn 4 this summer plus 1 blue star/white leghorn mix that’s one year old but flies on me when I go in the coop. 1️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ for the group and I’ll throw in a one year old blue star rooster that won’t stop eating our black raspberries and teaching the hens 😂. Great rooster- just not working for us anymore lol. These birds are slightly older but still have plenty of life left in them due to being heritage breeds and are still laying big eggs almost daily. I don’t mind to divide the group but they DO get along well how they are right now.

I thought for sure this cross would have produced gold. Definitely moonspots… I was sure surprised to see a solid black (besides white poll) baby pop out 😆. I love the big, solid dark girls because it’s so easy to see their outline compared to broken or lighter coats so it didn’t hurt my feelings, but I WAS a bit surprised. Mama is on her third lactation and will be 👀 for a new barn as soon as doeling is ready to wean. She’s been milked through her first two lactations and was still a little fidgety some days but definitely through her full fight stage of milk training when I dried her off. Big, solid, easy doe who’s never been sick a day in her life. She raises fat babies and is mostly ND but her Granddam was small % fainter. I just NEED to make room and she’s given me two daughters I would rather have in my string based on their breeding. She does have a weird lump/tuft on top of her head that earned her the name “Friar Tuck” and truthfully I don’t know what it is, but it was speculated from contact with her uterus while forming. I don’t know, but it hasn’t bothered her yet and I forget about it now that she’s “grown into it” 😂. She does also need her spur trimmed annually-ish but with a milk stand or helper it isn’t hard to do with a fine wire saw and this last time she seemed to truly appreciate it and hardly moved once I started, then spent the next several weeks hopping on the milk stand when I walked by it lol! This started as just a cute little genetics post, but definitely evolved-sorry! 😋

Somebody NEEDS this little guy. His facial markings look like he’s got a grin with two front teeth poking out and I giggle every time I see it. 🤓 Grandma’s on all sides are awesome milkers into old age and on paper his dam should be nicer than grandma (I haven’t milked her yet 1000% my fault not hers) who just kidded at 12-14 (against my best wishes I’d like on the record). Happy to whether him with a deposit, but it feels like people are always looking for flashy goats when I don’t have any and this chocolate buckskin definitely fits the bill plus packs milking longevity and lots more I’d be happy to talk your ear off about!

We experienced a new first with this crew: it’s her third lactation and BOTH of Mandy’s babies have milk goiters this year 😆. Last year I milked out her excess with twins on her and this year I didn’t want to encourage production so I didn’t. I think it’s safe to say the babies didn’t mind a bit and I’m so excited to see how they grow 😁.
