We recently have had 4 new contestants sign up! Steel Smoke BBQ, Smoke in the Eye BBQ, Phoenix BBQ, & Six Butt BBQ have all been true supporters of our event and are back for the 3rd year in a row!!

We’re excited to share a meaningful vision for our community through Walkin’ Wings & MN Masters at Billig Park in Pierz.

The Walkin’ Wings & MN Masters Committee is proud to announce a 3-year Veterans Memorial Plan that will honor those who have served and those currently serving in our armed forces. Best of all, this project comes at no cost to the City of Pierz. Funds raised through Walkin’ Wings events will go directly toward transforming Billig Park into a lasting tribute our entire community can appreciate for generations.

Phase 1: Expansion of the flag display behind the gazebo, featuring each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces with the American flag proudly centered. The existing flags will remain in place.

Phase 2: Installation of a granite monument engraved with the names of Pierz-area service men and women. Families will have the opportunity to honor loved ones—active, retired, or deceased—by having their names included.

Phase 3: Addition of memorial brick pavers around the gazebo and nearby sidewalks, offering another meaningful way for families to recognize and remember those who served.

As part of this project, if any trees need to be removed, they will be thoughtfully re-situated to preserve the park’s natural beauty and aesthetic. The Walkin’ Wings Committee will also work closely with Public Works to ensure proper planning for layout, utilities, and overall design.

This memorial will stand as a place of reflection, gratitude, and pride for our community. We look forward to coming together to make this vision a reality and to properly honor the heroes among us.
