Our History
In the beginning, C.M.B. Foods originally got its start as a spin-off of Gulsby Eggs. Gulsby Eggs was established in 1962 by Charles and Maggie Gulsby for the production and sale of fresh eggs serving the Central Alabama Region. In 1980, after returning to the family business, Bill, the oldest son was approached by a regional chain restaurant to supply produce along with the fresh eggs we were already supplying to them. With order in hand, we jumped into the produce business and quickly learned that in the produce business you had to have a quick turn around on the product and the cold chain had to be intact. Today, Service has always and remains the most important aspect of doing business with our commercial and independent accounts. foods is to provide our customers the highest quality product with an end commitment to customer satisfaction. Food Safety has always been addressed and we practice the FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices and are licensed and compliant with local, state and Federal Food Safety Regulations. (HAACP) Hazard Analysis and Critical control Point is in place to reduce the risk of food borne illness through appropriate food handling, monitoring and record keeping. Trace back ability is in effect, if needed, for a recall if a food borne illness outbreak occurs. Trace forward ability is also in effect in case we do send out a product that has to be recalled. Buying local has always been a priority for C.M.B. foods. We appreciate our local farmers and try to support this as much as possible. C.M.B. Foods is a family business operated by three brothers, Bill, Brian and Bob. We feel like our employees and customers are our family too. We have an employee that has been with us for 29 years and some customers have been with us that long too.
