Smith Garden Blooms

Smith Garden Blooms Seasonal cut flowers!! Open June- First Frost——Closed for the season! Hello there! We are Neil and Amanda Smith. We have three beautiful children together.

We are the gardeners of Smith Garden Blooms, along with our daughter, Kacey. I always liked helping my husband plant a veggie garden every spring. Since my youngest son is getting older, I wanted to learn more about flowers to plant in my garden as a hobby. I started researching and reading everything I could to learn how to be successful at growing flowers. And this year my garden was very small

but very successful, and next year I have plans already in place to expand drastically. Better yet, all three of my children love our flowers and like to help out with the farm and gardening!

I have been amazed at the number of flowers even a tiny space can produce and even more amazed at the power knowledge brings to turning out quality blooms. Family and friends were starting to get interested in getting flowers from my garden. Now, I have poured my heart and soul into growing flowers. I'm discovering that it takes a lot of work and sweat equity to succeed in flower farming, but I am up for the challenge! I am constantly learning and seeking to grow better and more efficiently using organic practices as much as possible. Our family's desire to succeed in some small way is fueled by the pleasure that we find in spending quality time with each other as a family and soon to be offering a pop-up flower stand on our farm in the amazing Pikeville, NC. We will have seasonally grown fresh-cut market bouquets and DIY buckets of flowers. So here we are, introducing—Smith Garden Blooms!

I discovered today that I have four monarch caterpillars on my milkweed! This makes my heart so happy because I have not seen a monarch around here in three years so I would definitely be planting a whole lot more milkweed and I can’t wait to see my butterflies hatch!!!

If you want a plant, that is impossible to kill this is the plant for you!!!🤣 This plant spreads by rhizomes and can get up to 6 feet tall! They have to be in full sun to flower, and if you cut them back in early spring, they won’t get as tall. I have to thin them out a lot about every other year or so. I don’t use this as a cut flower because they do not do well in a vase. I just wanted to take a picture of them to show how beautiful and healthy they look right now even after the hail storm shredded them up! Keep an eye open because I may be having some of these for sale for you to plant in your garden starting next spring because I have a plan to get my nursery license to begin selling plants and seedlings!!!🌱

Four year-old eucalyptus silver plate trees. I cut them back in the spring because they only grow into a tree in warmer climates such as zone 9-11. By cutting them back, they give me abundant stems for the most beautiful bouquet greenery. The foliage dies in the winter, but will come back from the bottom base of the stump in this growing zone 8 basically making it a perennial. 😀🌱
