We’re teaming up with Old CC Road Farm and Black Willow Farm to give away a weekend stay at our Mennonite built, off grid cabin tucked away in the hills of the Cumberland Plateau.

Surrounded by a 3,000 acre hunting lease that borders Fall Creek Falls State Park, the cabin feels completely removed from the world while still being only about 20 minutes from the park.

This is a true off grid getaway with a propane stove and refrigerator, propane lights, no electricity, and an outdoor shower. The winner will receive a two night stay, Friday and Saturday, on the weekend of their choice, excluding major holidays.

We’ll also stock the cabin with a few farm fresh breakfast essentials:

A dozen farm fresh eggs from Old CC Road Farm, a loaf of bread made with organic flour from The Farmers’ Storehouse, and a pack of forest raised bacon from Switchgrass Farm.

Amish Paste Tomato 🍅
One of my favorite heirloom tomatoes. They are an excellent canning tomato, whether it is for canned tomatoes, pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce or what ever it is you want to can. They are an excellent fresh tomato too. They are sweet, juicy and delicious. They are a super meaty tomato and grow in various sizes. From over 2lbs each down to a Roma Tomato size. They are an indeterminate plant so they need lots of support and constant trimming, but easy to grow and well worth the work. If you are going to try a new tomato variety next year, try the Amish Paste Tomato. You won’t be disappointed. 🍅 I cooked down 14 quarts of tomatoes and canned 8 1/2 quarts of spaghetti sauce.

Switchgrass Farm and Old CC Road Farm spent a few hours pressure canning 22 quarts of Potatoes 🥔 yesterday. Canned potatoes make the best hash or homefries! Plus we get to preserve some of the harvest for the winter months.
