Summer Cover Crops 🌱

Out with the sweet corn patch and in with the multi species summer cover crops. Nick had a difficult time acquiring our normal mix so he did his own mix of Sorghum Sudan Grass, Sunn H**p, and Buckwheat. We will let this get 2-3’ tall and then graze it off with the laying hens in our mobile coops.

We want to say THANK YOU to those who support our farm, whether it is through the CSA, online farm orders, buying bread at the stores we bake for, sharing our posts, etc.
We really care about our community, our people, and our veterans-who served our country so that we can live freely and farm.
These beauties went to the VA today and from what we heard, made some vets very happy. 😊

Fertilizing the okra this morning ☀️

Purple Sweet Corn 🌽

A friend referred this variety to us and we just had to try it. The variety is called Ultra Violet and it’s a super sweet non-gmo sweet corn. The planting on this is small so there will not be an abundance of it. If the corn makes our CSA members can expect to receive some in there weekly bags (2-3 weeks out). If it is half as good as our Rosie variety we will plant a bigger patch next year.
