We had our season ending frost last night. This year’s frost came with more relief than usual as this season of farming (and life) was tough. We are planning to lean into this season of rest (minus the tuber digging and holiday craziness, of course) and hope to start next season with a fresh outlook and energy.

This year has been filled with immense joy and overwhelming sadness. We have been grateful beyond measure to finally live on the farm in our dream farmhouse. Losing my Dad changed our lives in an instant and it’s been hard to find joy at the farm because everywhere we look, there he is. I know one day the reminders will bring joy instead of sadness. And I know it will make him proud for us to continue this dream that he spent his last years making a reality.

We moved into our farmhouse a few months ago and started putting all of our time into flowers. A few weeks ago my Dad had a stroke. He has been involved in every step of our farm journey and some days it feels impossible to know what to do. We are balancing time with family with garden therapy and appreciate all the love and well wishes for his recovery.

We’re cleaning up the Dahlia field and can’t wait to have buckets like these again soon!
