We’ve been baling our first cutting of hay today. The yield is better than expected so we feel very fortunate. Harvesting the fields just in the nick of time too. Our hay barn was looking like Old Mother Hubbard’s cupboard! 😳

And a big shout out to Stewart too! (he’s going to be so mad that I’m posting this, but…🤷🏼‍♀️) This guy has been farming for a grand total of 15 months, but if you’ve had a chance to see our fields this spring you’d never know it! Every single one of our fields was plowed under and replanted this year so he was starting from scratch. Most hay farmers with a farm our size don’t do their own planting, cutting, or baling. They contract it out. But Stewart insisted on buying his own equipment and educating himself (through great mentors/friends and the internet) and doing everything himself so we could be self sufficient and follow our own timeline. The results have been amazing! We are in awe of his hidden talent for farming. Who knew?!?! But I guess if you know Stewart, you know that he’s successful at anything he puts his mind too. He works about a bajillion hours a week to put food on our table and then to put food in the barn. Our family and all the farm critters are blessed to have him! He’s the best!❤️🚜🌱

When farm chores need to be done but you have a toddler in your care, what do you do? You put them to work! Have to spray the weeds before the rain comes 🌱🌧
