Happy Arkansas Farm-to-ECE Week! 🎉

What better way to kick off Farm to ECE Week than by celebrating the hardworking farmers who grow the food that nourishes our families and communities?

Today's Farm to ECE Activity: Thank a Farmer! ❤️

Invite children to think about their favorite foods and talk about the farmers who help grow them. Then, get creative!

🎨 Draw a picture of a favorite fruit, vegetable, or farm.
💌 Create a thank-you card for a local farmer.
🚜 Talk about the different ways farmers help our communities.

Bonus: Connect with a local farmer and share the children's artwork or thank-you messages! Feel free to even tag a local farmer or producer in the comments so we can recognize the people who help feed our communities!

Every week somebody sends me another article or video about a food recall or something happening with our food supply. And almost every time, somebody says the same thing:

“I really need to learn how to grow my own food.”

That’s why I’m doing this.

I don’t expect everybody to become a farmer. But I do believe knowing how to grow something you can eat is a skill worth having.

Grow Beyond Summer is about more than figuring out what vegetables survive the cold. I want to teach people how to keep growing, answer the questions you’re scared might sound “too basic,” and create a space where we can actually learn from each other.

I’m not trying to build a room full of students for two hours.

I’m trying to build a community of growers.

So if you’ve been saying, “I need to start,” come start with me.
