This Two Part Class Teaches This History Of BBQ While Also Providing Hands On Training, and The Best Part Is At The End Of The Second Class You Get To Eat The BBQ You Cooked! The weather is heating up and so are the summer programs at the Alice Desmond Center for Community Enrichment! Join Bearded Boys BBQ for "BBQ Roots and Fire," a hands-on BBQ experience. In this unique two-part class, you’ll dive into the origins of traditional barbecue, learning how slow-cooking over wood fire became one of America’s most beloved cooking styles. From early pit methods to modern smokers, this program breaks down the evolution of true BBQ. Then—it’s your turn to step up to the pit: hands-on smoker training to learn the art of smoking ribs, from start to finish. This isn’t just a class—it’s an experience that connects you to the roots of BBQ while giving you real skills you can use at home. The second session will include a meal for participants.
