We are now pulling our German Stiffneck and Music garlic. We are offering them in bunches of three with stalks. Fresh picked and bunched to order. We never wash our garlic; we let the soil dry and brush it off. Washing can lead to the garlic molding and rotting. It gives it shelf appeal but damages the product. The outer paper will soon dry out and expose the healthy, clean bulb.

We now have our garlic scapes available. We began picking today. Available by the bunch or box.
Interesting footnote: last year a went to a farmers market in Passaic County off Route 23. The had a backyard gardener masquerading as a farmer selling the most anemic scapes I had ever seen. They looked like five blades of grass. Not enough to feed a mouse. Cost was $5.00. I saw some poor sod actually buy them. Unbelievable, don’t the managers vet these people?

Disked the field for the third time today. The best part is as I disk, the red winged blackbirds, cowbirds and killdeers follow me and eat all the cutworms and grubs. They help rid the field of these harmful pests.

Began disking the fields today. I had to disk around one section to avoid a Killdeer nest. Mama was squawking and pretending she was hurt to lure me away. However I found the nest and marked it with a tomato stake to avoid destroying it. We made the mama very happy.

This is one of the reasons you need to know your farmer and buy local.
The only thing that comes into contact with our strawberries is rain.
We will have strawberries later this season grown on our family farm. 100% naturally grown in our pristine black dirt.
