Thank you for the help!!

FREE TO A GOOD HOME

Need a guinea fowl? We only have this one and she (he?) could really use some company. Mom was able to get it in this coop, but it's used to free ranging.

Pickup asa near Montgomery/Troy, AL area. Message for details.

We try not to waste anything here. Since we don't have chickens at the moment, all of this will go to the deer. 🍐🦌🍐🦌🍐 If a fruit is in season and even better if it's local, I'll try to find ways to use it, whether it's for us or the dogs or the wildlife. Or even for you... like baking a seasonal dessert to sell at the market, such as my spiced pear puffs or paw paw bread. There's just nothing like walking with your basket or bucket to handpick something then transform it into something else.

Pecan season is coming up and we have an orchard full of pecan trees! Hopefully they produce plenty this year.

Our pear trees didn't produce much this year. Luckily our gracious neighbor has an abundance of pears! They have two full trees and we barely made a dent after picking. The pears are so heavy!

Mom and I canned 22 spiced pear butter jars 🥧 🍐 🫙

I used 40 pears. The pear butter itself took me 3 batches.

It's hard to believe that canning such a small batch takes so much time, effort, and patience.

It's canning day! Let's do this. 🫙🫙

I was calling this spiced pears, but I guess it's more pear pie filling or pear butter (it actually tastes like apple pie to me!).

Either way, they're going to be canned today because I'm going out of town and don't want to risk the beautiful pears going bad then becoming deer snacks. I plan on making more homemade goodies out of them. This time I added some ginger root too.

Raise your hand if I should make more of those puff pastries I brought to the market yesterday. ✋🏽

Mom and I might even have enough time and energy to harvest another bucket and do this again later today. Peeling and cutting 40 pears by hand is no joke! Oof!

Local, seasonal, hand harvested, home grown, homemade, the closer to nature the better, etc. Who's with me? ✋🏽
