Three quarts of milk turned into jalepeno cream cheese spread, soft garlic herb farm cheese, and a half gallon of vanilla coconut whey protein. Plus even a little extra whey for the animals/plants. The protein drink is very tasty and super clean, packed with pure nutrients. Recipe below. It’s amazing what can be done with milk from just one goat!
1/2 gallon whey
12 grams organic stevia
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp coconut extract

Homesteading is a lot of work. You know what’s less work? Collecting what is naturally growing on your land. I decided to explore a few things that are God given goodness. The processing does take some time and effort, but the growing was zero work. I was surprised to learn what powerful traditional herbal medicine properties are in magnolia, honeysuckle, rose, and dandelion. I’ll give an update after we try them for a bit.

You don’t have to do it all. Don’t overwhelm yourself, just find a few things to do well and a few good trade partners. I’m enjoying greens I swapped for eggs from a backyard gardener, amazing steak that we traded for our pork, and homemade goats cheese. This sirloin caprese lunch wrap makes me feel fancy but more than that I know where the ingredients came from and that they were grown ethically and naturally. It’s not hard to find trade partners, for us it just makes things work.

This is what homestead dreams are made of 🥰 breakfast for my sweet girl with home made, and home grown ingredients. This is the why. It’s what she deserves. Basic recipe was an egg, a dash of cinnamon, few drops vanilla extract, and a little splash of goat milk (about a shot glass). This was a small batch with just one thick slice of home made bread to see if she would like it. Sorry for the vagueness on this one, I measured with my heart 😄
