Meet the Panel: Edna Williams 🍓

After more than 30 years in education, Edna retired in 2018 and is the “backbone” of Fourtee Acres, a family-owned forestry, farming, natural gardening, and family engagement consulting enterprise she co-stewards with her husband, Tyrone, and their sons.

Edna’s work is rooted in education, community, and creating opportunities for others to connect with agriculture. She is especially passionate about nutrition and creating meaningful farm experiences for children and community members. One of the things she values most is seeing the “sparks in the eyes” of children and community members as they experience the farm and learn about where their food comes from. Edna speaks regularly about how maintain family land ownership, and shares her own experiences and perspective as a minority woman farmer.

Edna is actively involved with ForestHer NC, serves on the advisory board for her local NC Cooperative Extension office, and represents agriculture on the Halifax County Crime Stoppers board. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Links, Incorporated, and the National Association of University Women.

We’re looking forward to hearing Edna's perspective on community, land stewardship, and the importance of keeping agricultural traditions and knowledge strong across generations.
