It's just 2 days before Thanksgiving and we are at the Lenoir County Farmers Market with more organic pasture raised eggs while supplies last or until 2pm, whichever comes first! If you are in the Kinston area, stop by for a dozen or two and check out the other vendors while you are here! We've got several vendors set up and are helping you get ready for the Thanksgiving holiday. Whether it's looking for the perfect gift or meal prep, we have it all today!

For Grady Rouse Farms, our director of HR (...er, Chicken Resources...CR?) has accepted a new position that will prevent us from attending Tuesday market events through next Spring. This will be our last Tuesday for selling our eggs at the LCFM until Spring. We will still be offering eggs for sale by appointment only at our Pink Hill Farm so please FB message us or contact us at [email protected] if you would like to arrange a pick up.

We are happy to announce that we have 5 new Olive Egger baby girl chicks that will be joining the work force in the spring when we come back to the market. Those chicks ought to add another splash of color to our egg bouquets just in time for Easter!

Can't make it out today? The market is open every Tuesday and Saturday from 8am to 2pm but we will see everyone in the Spring. ☺️

We'd like to thank all of our market customers for a great 2025 year and look forward to seeing everyone in 2026!

We are still a bit down in egg production, but we will plan on making it to the market every other week through the summer.. They are working on quality, not quantity though...so they are worth the wait!

There's big plans in progress at the Grady Rouse Farm! The newest Hoop Coop Tractor is nearly complete and already sporting our newest breeding group. We still have to add the roll out nest boxes, an automatic coop door, and wheel system, but our breeding Black Copper Maran quad and a few friends have already moved in. Our new Roo, "Mon Tresor" is already a hit with the Cream Legbar girls, and the original BCM girls are warming up to him. The newest additions: Mayday- our youngest Black Star, and two RIR pullets round out the crew in the new coop.

Why do we use tractors? Mobile coops allow for them to be moved to fresh grass regularly so they can forage for plants and bugs that supplement their organic feed diet. These offer great nutrition for healthier birds as well as healthier AND tastier eggs. Once they are used to their tractor, we will have an outdoor paddock set up so they can come and go as they please. This tractor offers excellent protection against predators and shelter from the elements.

If all goes well, we anticipate an October hatch from them of BCM and Olive Egger chicks so stay tuned for more announcements from them in the fall!
Like us here to continue to get news as we expand our hobby farm/homestead and check out our website for continuing updates on everything going down on the farm!

The weather has finally broke and it is cool and low humidity today. We have been working on adding a few new hens to help with production. Our Black Copper Maran girls from our February hatch have finally joined the work force so we are looking forward to some pretty egg bouquets. We also have moved around some family units in anticipation of breeding our older BCM hens in the fall. We are down in egg production as our new girls get the hang of their work tasks, but we will plan on making it to the market every other week through the summer.. They are working on quality, not quantity though...so they are worth the wait!

The girls are sick of the heat and ready for Fall, so things have slowed down with the egg assembly line. We are down in egg production as a result but will plan on making it to the market every other week through the summer until the heat breaks. They are working on quality, not quantity though...so they are worth the wait!
