FOUNDATIONS IN BEEKEEPING:
A must class for all new beekeepers. This six hour class covers what beekeeping is all about, the social structure of bees, honey bee anatomy, the hive organization, how bees communicate, foraging/nectar/pollen, and who does what in the hive, Africanized bees. The seasonal cycle of bees and when Texas Honey Flows typically happen. Where to purchase and what type of bees to purchase. What type of hives do I want? Where do I get those. Without understanding at a basic level these functions you will experience more hardship and financial loss when you start up your hives as so much of what beekeepers do depends on this information. Plus it’s just plain fascinating to see how these little critters function! Includes time in TFH's Apiary! SO YOU HAVE YOUR HIVE NOW WHAT? Designed for clients who have just received their hives or have had a hive for less than 1 or 2 seasons. Topics include things such as: Placement of hives, hive inspections, reading frames, splits, mergers, swarming, pests (small hive beetles, waxy moths, varroa mites) and so much more. You will be spending time in the Apiary so bring your suits! 6 hour class. GOATMILK SOAPING FOR BEGINNIER'S:
Come learn about Cold Process Soap Making Using Raw Goat's Milk. You will have a presentation, demonstration, and then jump in and make your own soap which you take home with you! Four hour class full of fun and great information! TFH also provides 1:1 Private Consultations at your hive for an hourly fee. Linda is a Certified Apprentice Beekeeper in the Texas Master Beekeepers Program. She tests for Advanced level November 2017.
