Legacy Hooves
A Little Update From Legacy Hooves ❤️🐴

Some of you may have noticed that our posting has been a little different lately, and I wanted to share why.

Mike recently suffered a stroke. He is making progress, and we are very thankful, but these past several weeks have understandably been focused on his recovery and on our family.

That has meant less time for me to create and keep up with everything the way I normally would. For a little while, I tried to keep things going by sharing some favorite moments from the past again. But for this season, I've decided it's okay to slow things down.

The horses are still here. The funny moments are still happening. Trust is still being built. And there are still stories unfolding every day.

So that's what I'm going to share with you—new moments as they happen, without putting pressure on myself to make something just because it's time to post.

The horses have also become an especially peaceful place for Mike during his recovery, which makes this little herd and this mission mean even more to us right now.

Thank you for being here, for caring about our horses, and especially for keeping Mike and our family in your prayers.

We're still here. We're just taking things one day—and sometimes one hoofprint—at a time. ❤️

**She Thought About It… Then Said No ❤️**

Ella heard me.

She looked.

And for just a second, I really thought she might come.

Then she made a different choice.

And that's okay.

Not every interaction has to end with the horse coming closer. Sometimes respecting the **no** is part of building the trust that may eventually lead to a **yes**.

Every step matters. ❤️

**Big Red Didn't Even Hesitate 😂**

Big Red saw me...

and apparently that was all the information she needed. 😂

One look. One very quick decision.

And there she goes.

She still prefers her space, and that's okay. Around here, she gets to make that choice.

We'll keep showing up and let Big Red decide when she's ready for something different. ❤️

**She Kept Getting Closer ❤️**

Brownie could have stayed where she was.

Instead, she kept finding a way to get just a little closer.

No pressure. No forcing it.

Just Brownie choosing the moment. ❤️

Baby already knew what was coming.

Unfortunately, she was waiting right where Mike needed to drive through. 😂

So feeding time started with a little traffic control.

Little Bit had been watching.

She didn't rush it.
We didn't force it.

And then she chose to reach out.

That first touch may look tiny—but with a horse learning to trust, it can mean everything.

**When Your Body Won’t Stand Down**

Everything around you can be quiet...

and somehow you're still listening.

Watching.

Waiting.

Trying to notice the problem before it happens.

When you've lived through difficult things, staying on guard can become automatic. That's why relaxing may not feel as simple as someone telling you to “just relax.”

Give yourself some grace.

Your body learned how to survive.

And little by little, it can learn what safe feels like too. ❤️

You don't have to learn peace all at once.

Sometimes it begins with one small moment when you realize:

**I'm okay right now.**
