We are stepping up our onion game! We usually cover one row at a time (like the garlic row on the left), but under the big cover, we have 4 rows of onions and 1 row of leeks. They are planted through pre-punched woven ground cover to keep the weeds down. The onions and garlic don't need protection from the cold, but they do need protection from the extremely destructive alium leaf miners that arrived in this state a few years ago.

Last night I had the chance to attend a class hosted by Charles County Economic Development — and I came home with a lot to think about! 🌱

We're always looking for ways to grow not just our crops, but how we run the farm — and opportunities like this are a big part of that.

Thank you to Molly at Charles County Economic Development for putting it together!

P.S. If you've been thinking about joining our CSA, we still have shares available for the 2026 season. Come grow with us! 🥕

Yesterday, Charles County Economic Development had the honor of spending National Agriculture Day alongside several of our local farmers and food producers for our Marketing Strategies for Agricultural Businesses class. The training was facilitated by Agriculture and Rural Development Manager Molly Meehan.

Together, we shared ideas, explored new opportunities, and focused on strengthening the business marketing skills that help our farms grow and thrive.

Agriculture and local food are at the heart of our community — supporting our economy, our health, and our way of life. We are grateful to work alongside such dedicated producers and to play a role in helping build resilient, successful farm businesses for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to invest in the future of agriculture in Charles County. 🌾
