Need a quick meal idea? Try Taco Tuesday with Woodland Farm’s delicious pasture-raised chorizo. Spicy enough to be interesting, but not so hot you need sour cream, our chorizo is packed with flavor.  All you need to add for a great meal are taco shells and fresh tomatoes and peppers from the market.

Want something more substanial? Try making our orignal recipe, Chorizo and Black Bean soup with a smoked pork neck stock. The name may be long, but the steps to make it are simple and paved with pantry staples. (Maybe making soup will give Mother Nature the hint to cool off!)

The lamb freezer is getting low, so stock up on your rib and loin chops, boneless leg, shank,  leg steak and lamb soup bones before they’re gone for the season. (Give Mother Nature a second hint with a batch of lamb and barley soup for the freezer.)

Make sure you get your favorite lamb cuts, pork cuts, bacon, and sausage by pre-ordering before Tuesday at 10am for same day market pick up.

This is absurd.

For the record, the average September temperature is *supposed* to be 85F (29C).

Not this hotter than Hell’s front porch weather we’re currently having.

Mother Nature, come join me on the front porch for a tall glass of sweet tea and a talkin’ to.

Woodland Farm will be sampling boneless pork chops this week. Our thick cut, pasture-raised chops, are packed with Vitamins E and D, are rich in anti-oxidants and selenium, and low in saturated fats.  They’re mighty tasty too!

Our lamb freezers are full of kebab, ground, shanks, and chops. There are even a few bone-in and boneless leg roasts. Planning aheasd for winter soup? we have plenty of lamb neck bones and soup bones ready to make a flavorful stock.

This will likely be the last week for our delcious Golden Italian figs. It’s a short and sweet season, get your before they run out.

It’s not a fig-ment of your imagination, Woodland Farm is sampling a bacon and fig jam this week!  This sweet & tangy, easy to make jam,  is delicious on grilled or pan-fried pork chops (we’d recommend boneless for this), or  with crackers and cheese. Want a “fancy” hors d’oeuvres? Spread the jam on puff pastry, roll, slice and bake! Your plate will look like a page from Bon Appétit magazine. Get your copy of the recipe and have a delcious jam in a jiffy.

Figs also pair well with lamb! Try a simmered fig glaze on loin or rib chops, or a grilled leg steak.. You can’t go wrong with great local ingredients.

Our figs sell out quickly, so stop by early to get some!

It’s not a fig-ment of your imagination — figs are in season and ready to eat!

Figs are a great treat on their own, but we think they’re even better made into a Bacon & Fig Jam.

Farm Wife will have pints of freshly picked figs (and the recipe for Bacon & Fig Jam) today at Briar Chapel Farmers’ Market from 4pm to 6pm.

Spare ribs are delicious when grilled or smoked, but sometimes that’s too much effort. How then, do you get great summer taste with mimimum fuss? Use your crockpot!  We’ll be sampling our original recipe for Honey Lime Crockpot Spare ribs this week. These ribs are dry cooked in the crockpot, and finished with a delicious glaze in the oven. No grilling or smoker needed!

The lamb freezer has plenty of cuts as well - rib and loin chops, kebab, shank, leg steak, and both bone-in and boneless roasts. Lamb is a great alterative protein that doesn’t leave you feeling heavy in the heat.
