June at Doctorbird is here, and the community living room is very much open.

Swipe through the carousel, pick your night, text your people, and come hang with us.

This month’s lineup:

June 6 — House Rules: Game Night
June 18 — Trivia Night
June 20 — Pickup & Pour
June 26 — Brown Bag Bonanza

Plus, Friday Night Flights are happening every Friday, with $4 off flights all day long.

A few more June notes:

Starting June 1, we’re open until 8pm on Thursdays for the summer, just in time for Old Town car show season.

We’ll be closed on Father’s Day so we can spend time with family and celebrate the dads, grandpas, uncles, bonus dads, and general steady-hands of the world.

And we’re putting out the call: we’re looking for a good upright piano in playable, tunable condition. If you have one, or know someone who does, send us a DM with photos, location, and details. We’d love to bring a piano into the shop and see where it leads.

Trivia is free, Brown Bag seats are limited, and the shelves are full. Come see us this month.

Tickets and details are at the Link in Bio.

Doctorbird is closed today, Sunday, May 31, so Zane can serve as MC at the memorial service for Chuck, our beloved regular and Doctorbird Hero: the Clubhouse Cardshark.

Thank you for understanding while we take the day to honor someone who helped make this little shop feel like home.

Shelf Spotlight: three bottles worth taking to a dinner party.

Not all dinner party wines have the same job. Sometimes you need the safe crowd-pleaser. Sometimes you need the bottle that makes your wine friend raise an eyebrow. Sometimes you need a host gift that feels thoughtful without making everyone stand around discussing soil types before dessert.

2024 Grüner Veltliner, Meinklang
The safe crowd-pleaser. Bright, crisp, lightly peppery, and wildly useful with food. It’s the bottle that plays well with vegetables, seafood, snacks, appetizers, and whatever else shows up on the table.

2024 Bechthold Vineyard Cinsault, Kareen Wine
The wine friend bottle. Light on its feet, silky, red-fruited, and made from one of California’s great old-vine sites. Chill it a little and let the nerds come to you.

2023 Nebbiolo, Lone Madrone
The thoughtful host gift. A little more serious, a little more savory, and just unusual enough to feel personal without being a homework assignment. Paso Robles Nebbiolo? Yes. That’s the move.

This week, buy any 2 featured bottles and save 10%.

Wine Club members save 20%, because dinner parties are better when you bring receipts.

Come grab a couple and take Doctorbird home.

New to the Nest: 2025 Screaming Betty Vermentino from Delinquente.

This one landed in this month’s Wine Club box, which means a few of you already know exactly why we’re talking about it.

It’s bright, salty, zippy, and just unusual enough to make your usual white wine routine feel a little more awake. Not weird for the sake of weird. Just fun, fresh, and very easy to bring home.

This week, buy any 2 featured bottles and save 10%.

Wine Club members save 20%, because yes, you’re allowed to double down on your own good taste.

Come grab a bottle before the club members make the obvious choice and drink it all.

This Friday’s Brown Bag Bonanza just got a serious upgrade.

Our guest for the night is Jeremy, a wine rep who’ll be joining us at the table, and he’s bringing bottles from his own private collection.

Not samples. Not the usual sales bag. His own bottles.

We’ve done three of these blind tastings now, and they’ve all been a lot of fun. But this one is shaping up to be on another level: more surprising, more personal, and probably a little dangerous for anyone who likes to guess with too much confidence.

As always, we’ll taste everything blind, talk through what we’re noticing, make our best guesses, and reveal the wines at the end.

Doctorbird will be closed on Sunday, May 31, so Zane can serve as MC at the memorial service for Chuck, one of our beloved regulars and the second person ever featured in our Doctorbird Heroes series: Chuck, the Clubhouse Cardshark.

Chuck was one of those people who helped make Doctorbird feel like Doctorbird. He brought his humor, his presence, his stories, and that steady regular-customer magic that turns a shop into something more than a shop.

Being asked to help honor him at his Farewell Tailgate means a great deal to Zane, and it feels right for us to close the doors for the day and show up for someone who showed up for us.

Thank you for understanding.

House Pick: 2024 Côtes du Rhône, Maison Plantevin.

This is the bottle for when you want something good tonight, but you don't want wine shopping to become a second job.

Juicy red fruit, a little spice, a savory edge, and enough structure to make dinner feel more put together than it actually was. Pizza, roast chicken, burgers, lentils, leftovers with ambition—it’s got range.

It’s proof that curated doesn’t have to mean precious. Sometimes it just means somebody already did the digging for you.

This week: buy any 2 featured bottles and save 10%.

Wine Club members save 20%, because apparently we do reward good behavior.
Come grab a bottle or two and take Doctorbird home.

Brown Bag Bonanza is coming up on Friday, May 29, at 6:30pm, and we’re down to just four seats.

This month’s blind tasting should be an especially good one: we’ll have a wine rep joining us, and he’s bringing a few bottles from his own private collection to include in the lineup.

As always, we’ll taste everything blind, talk through what we’re noticing, make our best guesses, and reveal the wines at the end. It’s relaxed, small by design, and always a good conversation.

If you want one of the remaining seats, grab your ticket at the Link in Bio.

Better Wine, Better World, with both feet on the ground.

The 2023 Petaluma Gap Syrah from Kendric Vineyards comes from Stewart Johnson, who farms his small northern Marin vineyard and makes the wines himself. It’s cool-climate Syrah with black fruit, cracked pepper, savory depth, and real lift. Not jammy. Not overbuilt. Just focused, honest, and very alive.

We like it because it tastes good, yes. But also because it reflects the kind of producer we want on our shelves: small scale, site-specific, and committed to wines that taste like where they came from.

This week’s retail pickup perk: buy any featured bottle and get a glass of wine or beer for half off while you’re here.

Come grab a bottle and take Doctorbird home.
