“The Cheshire Cat was up in the tree! He was. He’s purple cat. & Alice was falling down!”✨

Had fun checking out Alice in Wonderland displays with my little one & our friends thanks to free ticket day.

It’s so pretty & there are so many more rooms than I remembered. Just beware that it’s toasty inside even on days when it’s not very hot outside. Bring water, bring a fan, take your time, & enjoy the beauty. Plenty to admire for adults & little ones. The flowers are gorgeous & we loved the little outdoor play area for taking a rest during our visit. 🌸

Phipps is a great idea for a chill family outing in PGH or even a great rainy day activity in Pittsburgh. Add it to your list. Until next time…cheers! 🥂

✨Gorgeous Italian Spot✨

🍴
📍 Zelienople, PA

About 30 mins north of the city, the adorable little town of Zelienople is dotted with cute boutiques ( & were great), a toy store, homemade ice cream shop & more! We finally drove up to check it out earlier this month & loved our afternoon there. We had our toddler in tow, so booked the earliest ressie we could at Della Terra & crossed our fingers!

This restaurant interior spoke to me. Soaring original ceilings, a rich yet earthy palette of green, orange, & deep blue, warm wood, + plenty of brass accents…perfect! They even used pretty mix matched antique dishes & had a mocktail option with NA spirits on the menu. The service was warm, friendly, & attentive. The food looked incredible & the pasta is house-made (love), just nothing stood out to me as “oh my gosh, would order this again”. That being said, I still hope to make it back to try more! Haha.

📸 Pictured:

🍹 CRODINO SPRITZ $10
non-alcoholic aperitivo, soda, orange
(Like an NA aperol spritz which I normally don’t like, but this grew on me with every sip.)

💚 FRIED ARTICHOKES $18
marinated artichokes, grilled lemon, cacio e pepe aioli, pecorino romano
(Recommended & I normally like artichokes but wasn’t a fan of these, texture was tough, but sauce was delish.)

🥗 PL***OY CAESAR $8
escarole, radicchio, crostini, grana padano
(Husband was a fan of this)

🍝 RICOTTA GNOCCHI $35
sun-dried tomato pesto, lobster, herbs, calabrian chilis
(I was super excited to try this, but idk it just lacked flavor for me **I did ask for less spicy bc of pregnancy heartburn but probably shouldn’t have)

🍝 LAMB RIGATONI $32
lamb sausages, onions, garlic, red wine crushed tomatoes, harissa, herbs, parmesan
(Pasta texture good, but husband also didn’t love this dish overall, can’t get a better explanation out of him haha.)

🍕 MARGHERITA $20
basil, tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, grana padano, evoo
(Nice fresh flavor, a little floppy in the middle for my taste.)

Anniversary Dinner ✨

🍴
📍 Aspinwall, PGH

Lovely space, nice service, enjoyed the dips & calamari…but, overall, sadly, wasn’t “impressed” for a special dinner. The calamari itself was fresh & hot but the dip lacked any flavor. The same for the bronzino, done nicely but no flavor aside from grill.

This has happened with a couple of meals lately where overall there was nothing glaringly wrong or inherently “bad”, but there was also no “wow, this is amazing would def order again!” or “need to come back to try more” moment. And with how expensive it is to go out to eat these days, honestly, I’m hoping to be wowed by something…the food, the ambiance, the service, the drinks, the desserts…ideally all, but at least SOMETHING needs to be impressive enough to rave about.

I think if it was nice out, it would be great to enjoy the patio, drinks, & some apps here casually, but personally wouldn’t rec for a special, celebratory occasion. …and I think that’s ok, some people will absolutely love this spot, we just didn’t.

I hesitate to share less than stellar reviews sometimes, but with all of the “omg 100/10 obsessed with this spot it’s the absolute best” content out there (in general not about this spot specifically), I personally think it’s ok to balance things out with a “it was ok, not great” review from time to time too.

Until next time…cheers! 🥂
