Slow Food Pittsburgh

Slow Food Pittsburgh Slow Food is a non-profit dedicated to creating a world where the food we eat is good for us, good for farmers and workers, and good for the planet.

Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes, how our food choices affect the rest of the world. Slow Food USA envisions a world in which all people can eat food that is good for them, good for the people who grow it and good for the planet.

Today we announce a new era for Wigle and Threadbare.

Creating and growing Wigle and Threadbare has been the most enriching, challenging, and rewarding project we could have undertaken as a family the past decade. We have poured every bit of ourselves, and our family life, into these companies and we are enormously thankful to you for giving us the opportunity to do so.

We have known for some time, as a family, that significant future growth would require partners with additional resources.

After conducting an exhaustive search for a partner who would continue to grow Wigle and Threadbare in a thoughtful way, we are thrilled to announce the transition of our beloved companies to Pittsburgh Spirits. This locally-based company is spun out of the Nutting family of companies that includes Highland Ventures and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

We know that this is the right move for Wigle and Threadbare, but it is not without sadness that we transition out of ownership of these companies, which have been braided inextricably through our family life for more than a decade.

When we took this leap as a family a dozen years ago and started the companies, we attempted to build them as institutions that would stand the test of time. Your support has allowed us to do just this. You have grown the companies beyond us. We are transitioning Wigle and Threadbare, out of our hands to Pittsburgh Spirits, because we know the future of Wigle and Threadbare truly belongs to the region.

Cheers and with Immense Gratitude,

The Meyer Grelli Family
