According to timeanddate.com, Sunday June 21st will have 15:03:49 of daylight in Pittsburgh. Then on June 22nd the length of day will be 15:03:47. Those two seconds may not seem like much, but on Christmas Day this year the length of day will only be 9:17:24. We will have lost 6:46:23 seconds of daylight! We could all move to Key West, Florida to escape the winter cold, but even they are only going to have 10:37:06 of daylight on Christmas day.

Remember on Monday morning the amount of sunshine you get to enjoy each day will be getting less and less until Spring. More importantly, consider the amount of life you have left in that body you are alive in. It's clock has been winding down since conception. Being a Christian is like being in the summer of life. What are you doing with your summer?

Perspective is interesting. I met a young man from India where he told me that summers can go as high as 116 degrees Fahrenheit where he lives. He came here in September, and he endured the winter of frigid cold temperatures as well as all the snow we had. Since it was warming up a bit, he asked me if this was summer.

I had him look at the trees barren of leaves and the brown grass. I told him that in summer the temperature will be in the 80s, the trees will be covered in green leaves and the grass will be green too.

All he knew so far about Pennsylvania here in the United States is that everything looks dead and it is cold. Soon the beauty of summer will reveal itself too him.

What do you think you know about God? Does he seem distant or not even there at all? Would you like God to reveal himself to you as the glory of summer is about to reveal itself to the man I met from India?

I told him that summer is coming because I have experience that it is true. I tell you that putting your trust in Jesus will change everything for you because I know that is true too.

Creation is still beautiful, and it speaks to us in a sound that can be heard deep in our souls. A sound that is not heard by ears, yet fully understood (Romans 1:20).

Though corruption came to everything due to sin, the remnants of beauty of God's perfect creation yet remain. Imagine what it looked like before the fall. Imagine what the new heaven and new earth will look like (Revelation 21:1-4). Will you be there (John 14:6)?
