Crafted to deliver savory, bold flavor with an intense peppery kick, it has just enough texture to give your jaw a workout. Who makes Pleather? We are a couple and we make it by hand at the Lakewood Community Kitchen in Lakewood, OH. Seeking to create a tougher, spicier alternative to the predominant brands of meat-free jerky, we started experimenting with small batches for our own consumption. Soon, we found it to be a necessary supply for our camping and hiking excursions. After getting positive reviews from friends and co-workers, we decided to form our own company, Phoenician Micro-Kitchen, and bring Pleather to the public. Expect to see more flavors of Pleather. We will incorporate more organic and locally sourced ingredients as we grow. Black Pepper Pleather is great to eat straight out of the package, but you can cook with it too! Savory Seitan Noodle Bowl (one serving): Roughly chop about half of a bag of Black Pepper Pleather and put it in a small sauce pan. Fill the pan with water until it is just about even with the top of the Pleather and bring to a boil. Once the Pleather softens, pour the contents over the cooked noodle of your choice. Add veggies as desired.
