A neighborhood grows stronger when people choose to show up for one another. 💛

Across Deutschtown, neighbors and local business owners are coming together to clean up shared spaces, support independent businesses, share meals, and build meaningful connections.

Bistro To Go was honored to host Discover Deutschtown’s first Sunday Supper last month, opening our doors and our table to the community for an evening of good food, thoughtful conversation, and new friendships.

Hospitality is more than food. It’s about creating a place where people feel welcome, connected, and part of something bigger.

Karlie and Connor celebrated their wedding at the elegant The Franklin on Penn with a romantic, colorful atmosphere that felt like an elevated garden party.

Guests enjoyed a beautiful cocktail hour featuring Artisan Fruit, Cheese & Charcuterie, Chicken Wontons, and Farm Stand Crostini before dinner. The buffet included a Chef Carving Station with Herb Roasted Prime Rib and horseradish cream, Lemon Parmesan Chicken, Basil Penne Pasta, Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes, and a fresh summer sauté of zucchini and yellow squash.

Every detail came together beautifully thanks to the talented vendor team. Coordination was provided by Devoted to You Events and Lacey Hohl, with a stunning cake from Flour and Sugar Cakery. Florals by Shelley Behr added vibrant color throughout the venue, while music from Life of the Party Productions, LLC and Rick Wirth kept the celebration going all evening. Hair styling was provided by Rachel Landry, the ceremony was officiated by JJ Faltot of Northway Christian Community, and every moment was beautifully captured by PhOddo.

Thank you to Karlie and Connor for allowing Bistro To Go to be part of such a joyful celebration.

I can’t eat a chicken tender without our Bistro Honey Mustard.

In the days long before Bistro, I had the honor of working in the very last Brass Rail, which was located in Pleasant Hills. My friends, Barry and Bud Haggerty, had acquired the business, and I was offered the opportunity to work with the existing chef to reframe the menu.

Such a fun memory! Chef “Cliffy” Potts will always be a legacy in my mind.

When it came to the honey mustard, there was nothing better I had ever tasted. Velvety and delicious, with just the right amount of sweet and kick.

One problem with the recipe was that it included raw egg. We worked for days to change up the ingredients to remove the egg without losing the flavor or consistency.

Bud and Barry, if you are still out there, thanks for giving Bistro To Go this little bit of Brass Rail history. It’s a delicious add-on to our crispy chicken!

Patrons and guests enjoyed a beautiful evening at the Frick Museum and Gardens for the opening of the new exhibition, French Moderns: Matisse/Renoir/Degas. The exhibition features 56 works of art and explores France’s role as the artistic center of international Modernism from the mid-nineteenth through the mid-twentieth century.

Supporters of the Frick were treated to an array of French-inspired delicacies, including steak frites featuring beef tenderloin with sauce béarnaise atop a potato crisp, chicken bouchées, ratatouille tartlets, and lamb merguez phyllo cups. A grand artisan display welcomed guests in the rotunda, featuring fresh vegetable crudités, rustic breads and butter accompanied by jams, honey, and dried fruit, along with shrimp cocktail and Waldorf endive leaves.

It was the perfect evening to gather, enjoy remarkable works of art, savor exceptional food, and spend time with friends… and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

The Café will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

We honor this day by celebrating Black history, culture, and achievements and reflecting on the ongoing journey toward racial equality.
