Random food opinions that no one asked for, but are hills I will die on:
-Chicago Deep Dish is a casserole, not pizza. Delicious, but not pizza.
-Fresh herbs, lemon zest, or crushed red chili flakes can make any dish instantly taste better.
-Jarlic should be illegal.
-Stewed Tomatoes on top of boxed mac-n-cheese always slaps as my go-to ADHD meal.
-There is no prize for making chicken breast dry as the Sahara. Use a thermometer. Justice for juicy, cooked-to-temp chicken!
-Jello is gross.
-If a recipe "doesn't taste like anything," 90% of the time it needs more salt.
-Aldi brand cottage cheese is the best.
-Hot protein on cold greens is diabolical. Like a grilled chicken salad with steaming hot chicken on the cold lettuce. Jail. Immediately.
-Thanksgiving dinner is just as delicious on a random day in June.
-Pre-shredded cheese is okay for *some* things. Homemade mac-n-cheese is definitely not one of them.
-Bacon does not automatically improve everything. Sometimes it just makes everything taste like bacon.
-A homegrown tomato picked in July deserves the utmost respect. (Which, for me, is good homemade white bread, toasted, then scraped with a fresh garlic clove, Duke's mayo, flakey salt, and fresh cracked black pepper. Chef's kiss. 💋)
-Vanilla is criminally underrated. A good vanilla dessert is usually more interesting than a chocolate one.
-Hot Honey is criminally overrated.
-You don't hate vegetables. You hate vegetables that were steamed into emotional surrender.
-Having a picnic? A hot dog will always be my choice over a burger, every time. As Bourdain once said, "All my happiest moments seem to revolve around meat in tube form."
-If you are over the age of 16 and still won't eat onions, mushrooms, or tomatoes, I won't cook for you.
-That last one is a lie. I still will, but I won't enjoy it, damn it.
Any others?
