Rachel had her little ones finally. Already spotted some issues.

These are blue and broken blue New Zealands see the issues already for showing?

While technically they are "correct" in their markings they are not correct. And they will not be available for 4H kids to pick from. Hint its the brokens.

The blues we won't be able to tell until they are older. When we have to look for pigmentation in the nails, and stray white hairs, and proper rings in the fur.

But see if you can spot the issue per the standard of perfection or SOP. What one judge allows doesn't mean the next one will.

Lillian wanted more black New Zealands to show, and she's been getting them left and right out of our white buck, when he's paired with a blue doe.

Litter number three for the day is here. Number four is on the way. We may have number five before the end of the day.

So far, nine New Zealands and twelve Californians. Currently, a New Zealand is laboring. We still have one New Zealand, one Californian, and one Mini Satin we're waiting on. It's nice when they all want to go on the same day.

The barn is full, but it will empty right back out as fast as it filled up. We have lots of FFA and 4H projects being born right now. We have some July fryers and August/September roaster projects, and this week these are August fryer projects. Roasters for September fairs.

Located in Pittsford, MI, Hillsdale County, Michigan, just above the Ohio and Indiana state lines. All rabbits are weighed and records kept until they leave. So if you need them for your fair books, we have that information, and it leaves with you and your rabbit project.

Here we go again! Looks like a bunch are going to be born on the same day again! Phoebe, our blue New Zealand, has a litter of nine blacks. 🤞 They'll be sharp-looking when they get bigger. Flossy had four chunky cals.

Waiting on Molly, Rachel, Little Momma, Big Momma, and Moo-Moo. A couple of them have other due dates, but I think everyone who is due today is going to go today. It's going to be like the last round, a litter every couple of hours, lol.

Oh Peter boy is really starting to show his age. Hes the first Cal Dylan got, hes the sire or grandsire to almost the entire Californian line the kids have. He's retired from showing but he'll be here until he crosses that bridge.

All the kids love him. He's leash trained, and comes to his name. Just a big old sweetie. He's enjoying his summer outside mowing the lawn between my garden boxes, and he loves to lay under the sprinkler.

We spent the afternoon tattooing, weighing, and examining rabbits. We are learning the new varieties we have and seeing if they match the SOP. We may have to have a judge or another breeder look them over and walk us through them a little more.

This little one was just full of himself today. The blue pet-quality mini satin we had has left for a new home. We do have white mini satins available to leave next week or bring with us to Saline this weekend, and a junior black mini satin buck as well.

IF YOU NEED A JULY FAIR FRYER, MESSAGE US. They will also make August/September fair roasters. Siblings have all been 5 lbs by 10 weeks; they were born 5/14/26. Broken Blue, Broken Black, or White New Zealands are available.

New does moved into the brood pens. Goodness, those girls have made a mess, lol. There is hay, straw, and fur everywhere. I swear the Californian gals are always the worst for hair everywhere. That is why we try to only breed them once a year for market pens.

Seven does are due this next week: one Mini Satin, three Californians, and three New Zealands (two blue and one black broken).

Mini Satin pairings are definitely done until fall, as the ears on Mini Satins will become too big for showing. That is caused by the heat. That is why we breed minis in cold or cooler months.

But we do have two more New Zealands who need to be paired, which will be paired for Hillsdale County age fryers. One will be a white doe (plan to pair with a white) and the other a broken black (plan to pair with a blue as she carries blue genetics). We may also breed a Californian; we're uncertain on that.

I have spent the evening simplifying our meat project(s) weight and check sheet. So when you get your market project or six-class rabbit, things will look a little different if you are getting another.

All rabbits will be tattooed whether you need one or not. With having 50+ kits in boxes right now, and 60 more expected over the next two weeks, we need to track every little bit of what is going on. Tattooing makes that possible.

When messaging us about a market project, we need a name and phone number, the minimum and maximum weight for your project per your fair's rules, the date of your fair, the breed you are looking for, and the number of head you need. We do not crossbreed our meat rabbits. Californian, New Zealand, and Satins are what we raise for meat breed projects. We go in order of the date the order was placed.
