I realized I haven’t shared many photos of our Ayam Cemanis! We looked all over for these guys and after months found a friend who was downsizing. Love their colorful black feathers 🥰

⚠️ Trigger Warning: Pet Loss

We are absolutely heartbroken. 💔😭

Last night I heard the dogs going crazy. I assumed it was our cat teasing them like she does, so I didn’t think much of it. This morning, while collecting eggs and checking food and water, I found our precious Petunia halfway through the fence. A predator—most likely a raccoon—had ripped her head off too.

Petunia was born and raised here on the farm. She wasn’t just another chicken—she was Lucy’s fair show chicken, her little buddy, and one of the sweetest hens we’ve ever had. She was beautiful, gentle, and genuinely loved being held and cuddled.

I haven’t been hatching any eggs so I threw her eggs in the incubator. Here’s hoping one will hatch from her and we will have a piece of her left with us. 🙏

I can’t believe what a little love, good food, and proper medical care can do for an animal. 🥹❤️

Just look at Princess’s incredible transformation since we rescued her from the shelter! She has absolutely blossomed, and seeing her confidence and personality shine has been the greatest reward.

We’re so excited to share that we’ll be opening our nonprofit rescue very soon, and Princess will be our very first animal available for adoption! 🐐

Princess is halter trained, loves people, and has all the makings of an amazing pack goat and adventure buddy. She has been tested and clear from CAE/CL and has been vaccinated and dewormed.

🏡 A fence check will be required to ensure she has a safe home.
💚 As a way to support the next generation of animal lovers, adoption fees will be fully covered for 4-H members.

We can’t wait to help Princess find the loving forever family she deserves. If you think she might be the perfect fit, keep an eye on our page for adoption details coming soon!

Update! I’m going to add pictures of the roosters prior to entering my rooster pen. They pick on each other’s crests so they are not in condition.

So excited about these chicks I hatched! We have 3 cuckoos from Lou’s Silkie Farm, 3 lavender cuckoos from Little Latern Silkies, and 4 mottled from Kramers Coop! We also hatched a bunch of BBS and mottled from our own coop, I’ll show in a separate post tomorrow! I was not thinking our mottled rooster was fertilizing yet and this was such a happy surprise!
