ActivePure® and the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
What we can say and can’t say about the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Many of you have been asking for more information on ActivePure® and the Coronavirus (COVID-19). To be clear with everyone, ActivePure® has not been tested against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which is an RNA virus and we cannot say that it kills or prevents that virus. ActivePure® has been tested in a variety of settings and has been proven effective in reducing bacteria, viruses and other pathogens on surfaces and in the air in university and laboratory tests. These tests have shown that ActivePure® is effective against other RNA viruses like the Swine Flu (H1N1), Avian Bird Flu (H5N8), Hepatitis A (HAV), and MS2 bacteriophage.
Protecting our families, neighbors and relatives starts with following the CDC guidelines below regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), such as frequent hand washing and disinfecting touch points in our homes like doorknobs and faucets. ActivePure® by no means replaces these protocols. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention-treatment.html. Given the nature of the Coronavirus and its potential health effects, many families will want to go above and beyond, the CDC’s advice and protocols. ActivePure® Technology may be an additional tool to create the best environments possible.
Explanation of the testing of Airborne Contaminants MS2 bacteriophage RNA Virus
Our company sought FDA clearance to market and sell to the medical community devices using ActivePure®. The use of MS2 bacteriophage for testing as a viral representative is recognized by FDA and is considered to be an adequate viral representative for purification testing. MS2 viruses are more resistant than its counterparts to various methods of disinfection, including UVC light exposure. This is because MS2 viruses have an “envelope” or a “shell” that must be cracked. The tougher the virus the harder it is to crack that shell. MS2, a mid-level virus, is called a “thin enveloped” virus, meaning it has a shell like an eggshell. If our mechanism can crack the MS2 virus, then our mechanism can likely beat down a lower level virus.
When our ActivePure® Technology was tested against the MS2 virus, the results were very successful, and this is why we believe our technology will prove to be successful against human coronaviruses, including the COVID-19 strand. Even though we have not specifically tested against the new COVID-19 strand, we have tested successfully against other Coronavirus strands in that category.
Currently, we have a 5 Log kill rate of 99.999% against the MS2 RNA virus and in just 60 minutes we have a 6 Log reduction at 99.9999%. This should be an adequate response to the question; “Have you ever tested against the Coronavirus?” The answer is no, but we have tested against MS2 and these were the results.
