Emmalee has been hard at work getting her animals ready for fair! Yesterday, she spent the day clipping them and they were so well behaved!

Meet Harry Potter. Harry is a great grand son of Cody's donor cow Schooley Dakota 609D and his mama is out of one of Anna's bulls. Harry's sire is our herd bulls, PPSR Loyal Ruler 5L.

Emmalee was also practicing for her market interview and asked about Harry's finish. So this year instead of just having it explained, she learned how to count ribs and how to evaluate finish over the ribs. (Harry is pushing fat at the 12th, so he is right on track! Next, she giggled about his jiggly pones, confident they were good. Then she moved to the flank, and was able to feet the fat depositing there. She made me chuckle when she apologized to Harry before checking his cod.šŸ¤£ this girl cracks me up!

Lastly, she checked out his brisket, which was a little harder for her to understand, but in the end determined he has enough fat there. Her goal this year is a carcass of merit. She thinks the finish is there, now we wait to see if his genetics did the rest.

Emmalee's breeding project is a yearling bull. Meet Neville Longbottom. Neville is out Emmalee's show heifer, Kuddles (TJ Stone Cold daughter,) that she took to fair as a yearling and a heavy bred heifer.

Neville's sire is ES Jack Red. Emmalee was hoping for a heifer that she could breed red and end up with red genetics, but got Neville instead! Neville is a fall born calf and is heterozygus black.

His genetically enhanced ends show he is top 15% in calving ease, and top 5% on birth weight, while maintaining average growth EPD's. His API is top 10% and his TI is top 20..we are all excited to see what his future holds!

3H My Turn 861M is out of a Hudson Pine female we purchased years ago, and our herd bull from Prickly Pear, PPSR Big Timber 13H. With both calving ease and birthweight in the top 30 percent of the breed, he will do great on your heifers!
