Here we are on the final weekend of Third Monday Trade Days. After 130 years of continuous operation, they are closing down forever (owners are retiring).

Nuts Gone Wild is pleased to be setup on this historic final weekend.

Here is a little bit of history that you may or may not know. The Kiowa tribe of Nebraska used to make the nearby creek, their winter home for many generations. When the Peter's Colony began settling North Texas in 1841, the white settlers were plagued with vicious raids by the Comanche tribe. The Kiowa tribe lead by Cheif Spotted Tail, helped protect the white settlers. This exact location was the original County seat until McKinney County seat was established where it now stands.

Chief Spotted Tail is buried just outside of the white settlers cemetery. The white community would not allow Cheif Spotted Tail to be buried with them. Chief Spotted Tail is the only tribe member buried in this area. The rest were buried traditionally on mounds across Hwy 380 (no longer visible). A few years ago, the Kiowa Chief of Montana came down and decreed Chief Spotted Tail's grave site has Sacred ground.
