Well; this is difficult…..
Did you ever get all dressed up for a dance date, then discover your dream date only danced a polka? And only to blues music?
This March we had 3 nights of 22* or less, and I was worried. Not only for peaches, pears and apples, but several other bulb plants and early flowering ornamentals we have in the neighborhood. Sometimes one doesn’t know how it will turn out until the fruit sets, even though the flowers are plentiful and pretty!
We even planted 300 hills of miniature pumpkins in the orchard early, with vining types on an arbor next to the windmill for pictures! Great value-added marketing idea, I thought!
There are a few, very few, smaller late flowering apples, but they aren’t suitable for giving to a teacher. Or making other than a little bitty pie.
However, we have an assortment of mini-pumpkins! And the arbor for pictures is still up, with minis hanging, with no leaves left (I started the minis early in our new little greenhouse).
We will be open:
Saturday Sept 12; 10:00-5:00
Sunday Sept 14; 1:00-5:00
NO POLKA MUSIC, as Frank has my accordion in California!
We would love to see old and new friends, so please stop by if even to say “HI”!!!!
